Each year the staff and board of Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks & Recreation use funding from grants and allocations to complete projects in our parks.  While some projects contribute to the safety of our parks, others help us meet the needs of the growing population of Berkeley County.  Some of the projects are featured below.

April 2010 - A new flooring surface is installed at the large In-Line Hockey Rink at Oatesdale Park.  This project was funded by a WV Community Partnership Grant.

April 2010 - Getting ready for the footers to be poured for the new Main Pavilion at War Memorial Park.  Many area residents and organizations are contributing funds for the new pavilion.

February 2010 - After the brick was removed around the base of the Main Pavilion at War Memorial Park, crews discover that several of the support beams are rotten.  A WV Community Partnership Grant will cover part of the cost to rebuild the pavilion.

December 2009 - The Marshall Mason Multipurpose Center wing at the Berkeley 2000 Recreation Center is dedicated.  This project was funded through the estate of Marshall Mason, a long time summer employee.

November 2009 - A cold storage building behind ROCS Convenience Store on Kelly Island Road is turned into the Berkeley County BMX Skatepark.  Funded by the Beth Jacob Synagogue Jewish Community and support of Roach Energy.

October 2009 - Volunteers are in the process of installing a disc golf course throughout the trails at Poor House Farm Park.  Equipment was purchsed with the generous donation from the Beth Jacob Synagogue and Jewish Community.

August 2009 - The tennis courts at PO Faulkner Park were resurfaced with three coats of 100% acrylic latex material.  This project was funded by the City of Martinsburg Capital Improvement Allocation.
