The Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks & Recreation Board is pleased to host the 2010 March Madness Youth Basketball Tournament sponsored by BB&T and ROCS. Games will be played at the Berkeley 2000 Recreation Center at Lambert Park. (accessed off Woodbury Avenue.)
The tournament will be held MARCH 20 - April 3, 2010, and we will work within reason to accommodate scheduling conflicts. The tournament format will be double elimination play with an entry fee of $150 per team for all divisions. The divisions include:
Coed Squirts - Boys & Girls (age 7 & under) - 1st & 2nd Grade
Boys 3rd & 4th Grade Girls 3rd & 4th Grade
Boys 5th & 6th Grade Girls 5th & 6th Grade
Boys 7th & 8th Grade Girls 7th & 8th Grade
Boys 9th & 10th Grade Girls 9th & 10th Grade
Boys 11th & 12th Grade Girls 11th & 12th Grade
Players may not exceed age requirements specified for each division determined as of September 1, 2009. Exception—if player is in proper grade level (1st through 6th grade) and not been held back in school, they may exceed the age requirement. Must have written statement from parent or legal guardian. Players in grade 7th through 12th may exceed age requirement by one year if in proper grade.
Teams are required to have identical colored jerseys with numbers on the front and back. Awards will be given in each division for the top two teams and individual awards to the top two teams except in divisions with 8 or more teams, then awards will be given to the top three teams. Special awards will be given in each division to the MVP, Outstanding Player, and All-Tournament selections.
The tournament deadline is Tuesday, March 9, 2010. Team entry fees must be paid with roster by March 9th to be officially registered. All team rosters and entry fees should be mailed to Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks & Recreation, 273 Woodbury Ave., Martinsburg, WV 25404. Registration in person can be done at the MBCPRB Office located in the Berkeley 2000 Recreation Center in Lambert Park at 273 Woodbury Avenue, Martinsburg. Special request for scheduling must be included with registration materials. Player release forms must be submitted to the Parks & Recreation or to tournament director before the team’s first game.
