BERKELEY SUMMER EXPOLRER AND ENERGY CAMPS

These camps are day camp programs based at The Berkeley 2000 Recreation Center for children ages 6–12. The camps operate Monday through Friday, 9:00 am–4:00 pm. The fee for a one-week session is $100 per child. Before and after care WILL BE provided at $5/hour per child. The $100 registration must be paid by the Friday prior to the camp start. Each day campers will experience one activity based on the weekly theme. Campers will also have fun roller skating, bowling, going to the movies, visiting JayDee’s Family Fun Center and swimming each week as well. Weekly schedules with specific activities will be published one week prior to the camp start. Campers provide their own lunches and drinks.

› BERKELEY SUMMER EXPLORER CAMP DATES

Safety (June 21–25) Learn about safety when the Martinsburg Fire Dept. brings their fire house and the WV National Guard presents drug and alcohol safety. Kids also enjoy learning about dog safety training, paramedic & ambulance demos.

History (July 5–9) Improve your knowledge of local history with trips to Antietam, the George Washington and Stonewall Jackson Museums, Harpers Ferry, the Roundhouse, and Belle Boyd Museum.

The Arts (July 19–23) A guest art instructor will pick a different type of art for the kids to work on each day this week.

Outdoor & Nature (August 2–6) Fresh air abounds in this week with fishing at Poor House Farm Park, Geocaching, visiting the Perry Wildlife Center, Shenandoah Valley Caverns, and Cacapon State Park.

TeamSports (June 14-18) Each day the campers will participate in a different sport such as basketball, soccer, wiffle ball, volleyball, and flag football.

Splishy Splashy (June 28-July 2) Enjoy organized games in the pool like watermelon polo, sharks & minnows and swim relays in the pool prior to public pool hours.

Lifetime Sports (July 12–16) Sports that span a lifetime will be the focus of this week with gymnastics, miniature golf, and tag.

Adventure (July 26-30) A week of adventure awaits with Geocaching, go-karting, Cacapon State Park, Fishing at Poor House Farm Park, and outdoor scavenger hunts!

Wet & Wild Sports (August 9-13) Stay out of the heat with underwater football, crocodile crossing, fishy fishy shark, and swimming relays.

Camp descriptions were based on activities scheduled in the summer of 2009 and are subject to change based on availability of vendors. Specific schedules will be published one week prior to camps.
