BEGINNER YOGA WORKSHOP (Next session runs Thursdays, September 15 – October 20, 2022)

During this introductory course, students will learn about philosophy, the foundations of poses (asanas), and work on breath control (pranayama). By the end of this course, students will be able to develop their own home practice and venture into the greater yoga community to sample other classes. This course is specifically designed for individuals who have never taken a yoga class. Modifications will be given to accommodate all.

BEGINNER YIN YOGA WORKSHOP (Next session runs Thursdays, October 27– December 1, 2022; no class on November 24th)

During this 6-week course, students will work on the subtle layers of tissues and awareness. The poses will be held longer and will target the fascia, connective tissue, and joints. Therefore, this practice is very effective, because it’s gentle, slow, and accessible to most people regardless of their mobility or strength. Because the poses are held for three to five minutes, participants have a longer amount of time to ease into the process of feeling and to moderate what’s needed. In addition, this practice is based on self-reflection as it’s a slow quiet time. Yin yoga, like all yoga, is best understood through experiencing the practice first -hand and feeling its potential for emotional release through dense tissue.
