We are proud to offer this unique and fun league for players looking to get into hockey. We hope to keep our youth engaged and participating in our program for many more years to come.
Youth Street Hockey is geared towards ages 5-8. This is an instructional league that focused on development. There will be practices and games. No prior experience is necessary.
Washington Capitals were awarded funding from an Industry Growth Fund and their organization has used those funds to upgrade in-line hockey rinks at various locations throughout the U.S. The Capitals just completed the upgrade of our very own Oatesdale Park in Martinsburg, WV and invested over $194,000 into this facility. The Washington Capitals and Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks and Recreation completed the renovation for the two rinks in time for the 2019 fall season! The floors, walls, fencing and new goals have been replaced and our hopes are that the renovations will help improve our leagues and gain more interest from local hockey fans who would like to try the sport out. The Washington Capitals will be providing street hockey equipment to local schools and we the ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Sunday, September 29, 2019.
Overview
DRAFT UPDATE: Due to muddy conditions at Dupont Soccer Complex, the drafts scheduled for today (Sunday, March 3rd) have been postponed. Note that because of the rain in the forecast this week, the drafts will be moved indoors to the W. Randy Smith Recreation Center (gym floors at the Berkeley 2000 Rec Center are still in the process of being refinished). Just a reminder that only NEW players and those returning players that chose to redraft at the time of registration are to attend. NO CLEATS. Tennis shoes only. Here are the new draft days and times:
- U8 (no players, Coaches ONLY): 6PM / Wednesday, March 6th
- U10: 6PM / Wednesday, March 6th
- U12: 6PM / Thursday, March 7th
- U15: 7PM / Thursday, March 7th
Each season we have over 30 teams and strive for all of our players to learn and have fun while participating in our league. We are always in need of coaches and volunteers. If you are interested in coaching or volunteering, please email Jason at jason.howe@mbcparks-rec.org. Please be sure once signed up to coach or volunteer that your background check has been submitted/approved with our administrative office.
Practices may be held anywhere in the county. Games are held on Saturdays at Dupont Soccer Complex, located in Falling Waters, WV. Practices will be held at Dupont, Poor House Farm, Moose field or a school within Berkeley County. All games will be played at Dupont Soccer Complex or *Spring Mills High School (*select dates for U-15 only.)
O’Roke Photography schedules pictures. Please note your teams picture time will be on the schedule. Teams typically arrive 1 hour prior to game for picture sessions. Coaches will have picture packets for their teams. If you do not receive a picture packet for any reason, please contact 304-263-4719.

- Deadline: February 26, 2024 (or as each division reaches max capacity; once full, any registrations are wait-list only).
