We are proud to offer this unique and fun league for players looking to get into hockey. We hope to keep our youth engaged and participating in our program for many more years to come.
Youth Street Hockey is geared towards ages 5-8. This is an instructional league that focused on development. There will be practices and games. No prior experience is necessary.
Washington Capitals were awarded funding from an Industry Growth Fund and their organization has used those funds to upgrade in-line hockey rinks at various locations throughout the U.S. The Capitals just completed the upgrade of our very own Oatesdale Park in Martinsburg, WV and invested over $194,000 into this facility. The Washington Capitals and Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks and Recreation completed the renovation for the two rinks in time for the 2019 fall season! The floors, walls, fencing and new goals have been replaced and our hopes are that the renovations will help improve our leagues and gain more interest from local hockey fans who would like to try the sport out. The Washington Capitals will be providing street hockey equipment to local schools and we the ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Sunday, September 29, 2019.

Sports Open Gyms
Open Gyms for Basketball/Volleyball will be posted as they are scheduled throughout the year. These open gyms can take place at either the Berkeley 2000 Rec Center or the W. Randy Smith Rec Center (or both). See below for details.

Kickin’ Kids Soccer Clinic
A 4-week introductory Parent/Child Clinic designed to teach the basic fundamentals of soccer. Kids ages 3 and 4 will learn to dribble, pass the ball, and shoot in the goal, in addition to improving their running and kicking skills.

Youth In-Line Hockey

Youth In-Line Hockey is offered to boys and girls ages 9-18 years old as of September 1, 2023. This league is offered in the spring each year. Located at Oatesdale Park, Martinsburg, WV. We offer a Minor (ages 9-12) and Major (ages 13-through High School) and games are typically played on Wednesdays & Sundays.

Increase your volleyball skills by participating in our volleyball camps. We offer two camps and focus on different skills for each age group.

Volleyball Conditioning Clinic
Participants of the Volleyball Conditioning Clinic will be instructed by Shawn Martz (eight-time state championship Musselman High School Volleyball team) along with Musselman Alumni, Emma Kurnos (Carlow University player), Caroline Shipley (Shepherd University player), Sadie Wright (Kent State player) & Faith Ketterman, in techniques and drills along with game time every evening. This clinic is open to participant ages 8-12 years old as of the first day of the clinic. Pre-registration will be required.

Tae Kwon Do
Overall Program Information:
Students will learn basic self-defense skills such as blocks, kicks, and strikes. Participants will learn choreographed moves called forms. Also, students will learn various block and counter-attack drills with partners. Bag drills will be used to increase focus, power, and technique. In addition to learning new skills, classes offer increased flexibility, balance, coordination, and muscle memory. Our program offers a beginner, intermediate and advanced classes.
- Beginner class: 9:00-10:00 a.m. White to Yellow belt. Basic introduction of self-defense. Students start learning basic moves, forms, and 3 step drills.
- Intermediate class: 10:00-11:30 a.m. Yellow to Black belts. More involved training on moves sets, forms, 3 step drills, board breaking, and sparring. Students are encouraged to participate in Tae Kwon Do events/clinics.
- Advanced class: 11:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Black belts. Advanced training/fighting techniques. Some weapons training. Students are transitioning into instructors.
