Overview

Provides participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over.  They will also learn about the duties and responsibilities of a lifeguard and how to carry them out in a professional manner.

This is a blended learning class (a portion is done online and the remainder is done in-person).  Upon successful completion of the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course, you will receive an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate.  The Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certification is valid for two years upon completion and is accepted nationwide.

Attendance of ALL class days is MANDATORY, so please take this into consideration before registering for this class.

Online Registration is not available.  In-person and mail registrations (with proper ID requirements and payment) accepted.

While taking this course does not automatically secure employment at a M-BC Parks & Recreation pool, we do encourage all passing participants to apply to join our summer lifeguard team!
